On January 24, the Russian occupiers claimed en masse that they had allegedly launched an offensive on Coal worker (a city 28 kilometers northwest of Donetsk). However, in reality, this is only an attempt to create a “positive narrative” against the background of the lack of progress of the Rashists in Bakhmut, it was noted in Institute for the study of war (ISW).

Thus, Russian propagandists claimed that the Russian military of the 155th Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet “broke through the defenses” of Ukraine in the Vugledar area and “advanced” north of Pavlivka, as well as west of Mykolaivskyi. They tried to support their statements with the words of the commander of the Rashist battalion “East” Oleksandr Khodakovsky. However, he edited his initial post on social networks and removed references to specific Russian units. The propagandists also talked about the fact that the Russian military is allegedly continuing offensive operations in the direction of Vugledar, as well as in the area of Veliky Novosilka.

“ISW has not recorded any video footage indicating that Russian forces have launched a local offensive in the Vugledar area as of January 25. Russian sources likely intend to repeat similar ongoing actions in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where Russian sources have circulated claims of localized Russian offensives without any confirmation to divert attention from the fact that Russian forces have not achieved any significant operational success around Bakhmut,” ISW noted.

In addition, the experts pointed out that there are no signs of a real recovery of the Russian occupiers in the western part of the Donetsk region. The whole thing is that the Rashists spent a lot of effort on this back in November.

“The 155th Marine Brigade was previously severely degraded during offensive operations in the Vugledar area in November 2022 and is unlikely to be able to resume a new offensive on this part of the front. Regardless of whether Russian troops conduct local offensive operations in the Vugledar area, or Russian sources exaggerate Russia’s activity on this part of the front, Russia’s efforts are probably focused on supporting this information operation and do not portend a resumption of Russia’s offensive in the west of Donetsk region,” analysts believe.

News of Bakhmut

As UNIAN reported, yesterday it became known that US and Western officials are allegedly urging Ukraine to switch its attention from the brutal months-long fighting in Bakhmut to a priority potential offensive in the south. However, Zelensky believes that keeping Bakhmut will give our country more chances regain the entire Donbas.

It also became known that the Armed Forces destroyed the observation point of the Russian Federation near Bakhmut. Defenders of Ukraine liquidated 25 occupiers, it got on video. Yesterday, the Rashists tried to advance in three directions, in particular on Bakhmutsky, but our defenders repel enemy attacks.
