In the occupied West Bank, the tension is still very palpable when a Palestinian was shot at close range on Friday, December 2. The video of the attack made the rounds on social networks. The incident took place near Nablus, and several versions of the facts are circulating.
With our correspondent in Jerusalem, Michael Paul
According to Israeli witnesses, Ammar Mifleh, a young Palestinian, tried to attack an Israeli couple in a car near the town of Nablus. One of the occupants of the vehicle, an off-duty army officer, shot his assailant. The latter fled and stabbed a border guard in the face. On the video posted on social networks, we then see another Israeli policeman firing four pistol shots, at close range, at Ammar Mifleh who is already on the ground.
According to Palestinian sources, it was initially a simple quarrel and the Palestinian was unarmed. Israeli forces prevented rescuers from giving him treatment and he was later pronounced dead.

The UN horrified by this murder
Outgoing Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz welcomed the reaction of the Israeli police. Itamar Ben Gvir, the future Minister of National Security, even called them ” hero “.
The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland said he horrified by the murder of a Palestinian after a simple fight with an Israeli soldier. The response of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs: it was not a fight, but a ” terrorist attack “.
This reaction is a total distortion of reality. This incident is a terror attack, in which an Israeli policeman was stabbed in his face and the life of another police officer was threatened and consequently he shot his assailant. This is NOT a “scuffle”-this is a terror attack! https://t.co/1yoK8h7ehM
