Architects have already developed a reconstruction project Mariupolwhich may cost approximately 12-18 billion euros.
This is what Fulko Treffers, a Dutch architect and co-founder of the Ro3kvit coalition for the restoration of Ukrainian cities, said. told in an interview with “Ukrinform”.
He noted that all figures regarding the reconstruction of Mariupol are currently quite approximate, because “it is difficult to make estimates also because we don’t know what will remain of Mariupol.”
“The figure I heard is 12-18 billion euros. But it is important to understand that the best is not always the most expensive. We want to create an optimally functioning city,” Treffers said.
He informed that the Mariupol reconstruction project has already been developed. The main team consists of eight or nine people from Mariupol who lived in the city last year, either as children, or worked there. The team also includes urban planners and ecologists.
“We are trying to understand how the city could be revived and what is needed for this. For example, we know what there are at least 10 topics that we need to cover. In particular, nature and ecology, economy and workplaces, education, sports, culture… We need to think about mobility, transport, the airport,” the architect said.
He added that the formation of the Mariupol reconstruction team is ongoing. Yes, more than 80 specialists have already gathered in half a year.
We will remind, in July, the mayor of Mariupol, Vadym Boychenko, stated that reconstruction of the city will cost more than 14 billion dollars. and full recovery will take 7-10 years.
Note that the European Parliament approved a new one on November 24 assistance mechanism to Ukraine by 2023 for a record total amount of 18 billion euros. In particular, this money is intended for the initial support of the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
Of liberation of Mariupolthen this is possible already by January 2023 – such a forecast was made by Lieutenant General Ben Godges from the USA.
