NSHU specialists remind, which is a severe infectious disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which attacks the human immune system, reducing the body’s resistance to disease. However, with early detection and regular antiretroviral therapy, people with HIV can live long and fulfilling lives.
Prevention and treatment of HIV are covered by the “Program of Medical Guarantees” and are completely free for Ukrainians.
First you need to do HIV testing.
Where can you get an HIV test?
- at your family doctor;
- in the nearest AIDS Center or office “Trust”;
- in any health care institution of Ukraine that provides medical care within 13 packages of the medical guarantee program, including outpatient and inpatient medical care;
- in non-governmental organizations;
- you can order an oral HIV test and pass the self-test using the links; the test ordering option is available for people who completed the risk questionnaire and received a high and average result.
“If you are living with HIV, do not forget to take antiretroviral therapy daily. This will not only help you feel better and live a more fulfilling life, but also protect your partner from infection. After all, in case of reaching
not determining the level of viral load, HIV is not transmitted sexually,” the doctors note.
Antiretroviral therapy in Ukraine is free. It can be obtained at the AIDS Center or on the ART site after consulting a doctor.
Also, the Public Health Center, with the support of the “Innovations to overcome the HIV epidemic” project, developed the platform and chatbot in Telegram. These resources will help people living with HIV to find ART where they are now – in Ukraine or abroad.
