In Miami, police are collecting weapons to defend Ukraine

Posted on June 23, 2022

In one day of the action, American police collected 68 firearms “to protect Ukraine.”

In the American city of Miami, local police announced a Guns 4 Ukraine (“Weapons for Ukraine”) campaign, which aims to reduce the number of weapons on the streets and at the same time help Ukrainians defend themselves against Russian aggression.

About this reports Miami Police Department on Twitter.

The policemen promised to hand over the weapons they offered to the Americans to the defenders of Ukraine. Citizens who agreed to this offer were paid $ 50 for a pistol, $ 100 for a rifle, and $ 150 for an AK-47 or AR-15 rifle (which had been banned in the United States for 10 years since 1994). .

There were a lot of people willing to surrender their weapons – there was a queue at the town hall. People came from the suburbs in cars and motorcycles. In just one day of the action, the police managed to collect 68 weapons.

In the Washington Post assumedthat the weapons collected in Miami probably do not meet the needs of Ukraine, which requires a more sophisticated weapons and ammunition system to withstand a Russian attack.

At the same time, police still managed to reduce the number of weapons on the streets of Miami.

We will remind, on May 24 in the USA the armed 18-year-old man arranged a shooting at a primary school in the town of Uwalde, which killed 14 students and a teacher, about a dozen wounded were taken to hospital.
