The commanders from “Azovstal”, who managed to be exchanged on September 21, did not know where they were being taken.
Procedure exchange was very long and classified, as there were constant clarifications about it.
About it on September 22 at a press conference said Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrskyi.
“The guys were very exhausted. We participated in the exchange in Ankara. It lasted until 12:00. The procedure itself was very long. There were constant clarifications. The guys did not know where they were going. They did not understand where they were. I am talking now about the commanders from “Azov”, the National Guard and the marines – Denys Prokopenko, Svyatoslav Palamar, Denys Shlega and others,” said Monastyrskyi.
The minister added that Ukrainian prisoners of war were in various prisons – on the territory of the Russian Federation and in the infamous Olenivka.
“They were in solitary confinement on the territory of the Russian Federation. Some of them were in Olenivka. The boys did not know where they were going, the stage or certain courts with which they were threatened. When we met them, they asked who else had been exchanged,” said Monstyrskyi.
Monastyrskyi also noted the efforts of foreigners who helped Ukraine conduct an exchange.
We will remind, the commanders-defenders of “Azovstal” Denys Prokopenko “Redis”, Serhiy Volynskyi “Volyn”, Svyatoslav Palamar “Kalyna”, Denys Shlega and Oleg Khomenko will be in Turkey.
