The length of the chandelier reaches nine meters from the upper ring to the tip of the lowest crystal, and the diameter is four meters.
The main chandelier of the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater is ready to shine again, because its annual repairs and cleaning have already been completed, it is reported in TSN.
The theater believes that despite the blackout and constant shelling, the chandelier will soon light up with two hundred light bulbs before the next performance. This year, they were replaced by more modern and economical – LED ones. In addition, nine hundred crystals were polished, the frame and decor of the product were cleaned of dust and dirt.
For this, the mechanism weighing almost two and a half tons was lowered to the level of the audience’s seats, and then almost a hundred people shone for three days in a row. “Despite everything, despite the war, despite the difficult conditions, preventive work with our beauty, as we say, her majesty, the chandelier, takes place, because she, as a beautiful, capricious woman, whom everyone looks at, must be flawless,” – say the workers institution
This chandelier is considered one of the largest theatrical chandeliers in the world. Its length reaches nine meters from the upper ring to the tip of the lowest lens, and its diameter is four meters.
Usually it is raised behind closed doors, but today an exception was made. “No one wants this beauty to disappear. I want to preserve it for posterity and for myself, for modern times. If there is a complete blackout, then we have a donated generator,” they say in the theater.
We will remind, more than 80 powerful generators, which have improve the situation with light. They are planned to be connected to critical infrastructure, so the electricity that will be released will be redirected to consumers. Therefore, the townspeople hope that they will receive light for 3 hours, with a 6-hour absence, as it was before the shelling and excessive load, when there were two accidents in a row in the local power grid.
