The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) will consider appeals against sanctions imposed on Russian clubs and national teams due to the war in Ukraine.
After the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory, all clubs and national teams of the aggressor countries were excluded from international competitions.
However, Russia has decided to appeal the fair decision. As reported ESPNJuly 5, the court will consider the appeal of the Russian Football Union (RFU) against the joint decision of FIFA and UEFA to disqualify Russian clubs and national teams.
The second hearing, on July 11, will consider the appeal of four Russian clubs – “Zenith”, Moscow “Dynamo”, “Sochi” and CSKA – to exclude all Russian clubs from tournaments under the auspices of UEFA.
The teams of the aggressor country can ask for an expedited consideration of the case, because the qualification of the Champions League has already started, and the Europa League and the League of Conferences will begin soon.
Earlier it was reported that Russian basketball clubs thrown out from the most prestigious European tournament.
